What good IELTS study material looks like
Not all IELTS study material is useful. Before you spend time on a set of notes, check it against these points:
- It matches the current test format. Four Listening parts, three Reading passages, two Writing tasks, three Speaking parts.
- It explains why, not just what. A list of "100 useful phrases" teaches less than one clear explanation of how a Task 2 paragraph is built.
- It is linked to practice. Every strategy should be followed by questions so you can test it.
- It fits your track. Academic and General Training Reading and Writing are different; material that mixes them confuses many students.
- It avoids shortcuts and "guess papers". Nobody knows the topics in advance, and memorised answers usually hurt your score.
IELTS Study Notes on our platform
Our Study Notes are strategy chapters for each module, written to be read in short sittings on a phone:
- Listening: question types, spelling and number traps, following maps, using the pause to read ahead.
- Reading: TRUE/FALSE/NOT GIVEN logic, Matching Headings, skimming and scanning, timing per passage.
- Writing: structures for Academic Task 1 reports, General Training letters and each Task 2 essay type, with the four criteria explained.
- Speaking: extending answers, cue-card planning in one minute, handling Part 3 questions.
They sit alongside English Improvement for grammar and vocabulary, spaced-repetition flashcards, your Mistake Notebook, and a personal study plan, so reading a chapter leads straight into practice.

Using Cambridge IELTS practice books alongside our tests
Many students also use the official Cambridge IELTS practice books, and that is a sensible choice: they contain past-style papers and are widely available. Our tests follow the same official format, so the two work well together.
A good way to combine them:
- Use Cambridge papers for occasional paper-based full tests, especially if you will sit the paper test.
- Use our mocks for computer-style practice, instant Listening and Reading bands, and criterion-level Writing feedback.
- Log mistakes from both in one place. Our Mistake Notebook fills automatically from our tests; add notes from book tests yourself.
- Do not repeat the same paper too often. Once you remember the answers, the score no longer means much.
Study material for Bathinda students on the move
Students in Bathinda district often study in short pieces: on the bus from Talwandi Sabo or Maur, in a hostel at the university or between shifts at a hospital, refinery or office. Heavy books and folders of photocopies do not travel well. Keeping your notes, flashcards and practice on your phone means a fifteen-minute wait at the bus stand can be a vocabulary round instead of wasted time.
For students in farming families, the same applies during busy seasons in the fields. Five Daily Vocabulary words and one Study Notes chapter keep your preparation alive until you have time for full practice again.
A weekly study routine that works
This routine assumes about an hour on weekdays and a longer session at the weekend. Adjust it to your college, work and family schedule.
- Monday: one Study Notes chapter plus one Reading passage on that skill.
- Tuesday: one Listening set; review spelling errors.
- Wednesday: Writing Task 1, then read the AI feedback.
- Thursday: Speaking prompts for Parts 1 to 3; record and listen back.
- Friday: Writing Task 2, then rewrite the weakest paragraph.
- Saturday: full mock test under exam conditions.
- Sunday: review the Mistake Notebook, flashcards and a blog post. Rest the remainder of the day.
Every day: five Daily Vocabulary words, which take under ten minutes.
